Copyright
This is just something for everyone that's been contacting me about possible copyright infringement on the status of Lyriki.  Lyriki is 100% legal.  How you may ask?  The caveat the Lyriki is a non-profit entity (namely an archive) makes it legal to contain copyrighted materials.

I give the following links for your perusal and research.

I was unable to find a very readable version of the DMCA laws in regards to copyright, however, the same provisions for libraries and archives that are non-profit still apply.

Page Protection
I think we need some guidelines for what should (and shouldn't) be protected, etc.  I don't want to do anything out of line. :D  So far, I've protected 3 of the category pages, which should never need to be edited, and I'm considering protecting all the number/letter categories to prevent users from thinking that they can add to our database by putting the names/titles on the category pages. :B --MindlessXD 21:23, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

Founder!
Hi Nanenj. This isn't strictly a lyriki-related question, but I just wanted to know: how exactly do you go about founding a wiki? I'd just like to know because I think a tablature wiki would be a good idea. However, I haven't got a clue about how to start one. Or indeed, if it's still legal, as recently many guitar tab sites have been shut down,, some person seemed to think they were illegal.

: I regret not replying to this earlier, but I've been without internet for a few weeks.  As far as legality, I've addressed that above.  There's sound legal ground for non-profit sites to exist.  Especially ones with no commercial interest at all such as lyriki.  Lyriki is not decreasing the value of printed material that is for sale.  Anyways, depending on how much you already know about registering domains, finding hosting, etc.  Starting a wiki is actually fairly easy.  This wiki is powered by the mediawiki software, all that's required is uploading and configuring a few files.  My host, dreamhost, actually offers a 1-click install of the wiki software.  If you're looking to host at dreamhost, you can use http://www.dreamhost.com/r.cgi?148505 to give Lyriki credit for the referral.

Singles, EPs
Hi Nanenj. I think we should handle these categories of CDs, that are not part of the discography of an artist, in a different header, specifying which kind of CD it is. Most artists have sent EPs to companies, many have disapeared from social knowledge, but if one can retrieve and old EP from an artist, it would be very interesting to put it up. Also, if some songs are recorded for an OST or for a special occasion, we should be able to put it up in the artists' pages under a "Single Songs" headlines. Only a suggestion though.

:This definately sounds like appropriate information for the artist page. --An Unlogged In Nanenj :P

I know a little about templates. Anything I can help with?--Ember Nickel 08:12, 28 July 2006 (PDT)

:: Wow, i feel like a slacker, didn't realize you'd replied :).  The notice for help with templates on the front page is in regards to a wiki based on recipes and cooking.  I myself, am a complete train wreck when it comes to making wiki templates work, and wouldn't of gotten anywhere with Lyriki without the community that's helped build it.  If you're interested in helping we can talk more. :).  If you're just wondering in general about Lyriki, I think our current templating system is very stable, but, we're always open for suggestions and critique :) --Nanenj 07:10, 18 August 2006 (PDT)

Thanks
Thank you for the comments. As it turns out, I just came here from the English Wikipedia (where I stole a lot of the page design from. I hope this Page will turn out good... if you would ever like to chat about this, I have AIM (Falcinator351), and an E-Mail (Palixia.Firefox@gmail.com)--IAMTHEEGGMAN 14:29, 6 October 2006 (PDT)

NOEDITSECTION
Why not to use NOEDITSECTION on content pages?

:: I originally did that cause I thought someone was doing it to every page, and personally, it annoys me and unless I'm mistaken, NOEDITSECTION prevents people without accounts from editing the page.  Lyriki encourages people to participate regardless of whether or not they have an account.  The particular few pages (I didn't realize it was only a few Evanescence pages) look absolutely horrid without it, and until I have time to fix it up so that it doesn't look like crap when the edit section -is- there, it can stick around. --Nanenj 13:08, 7 October 2006 (PDT)

::: Nevermind, I'm more ignorant than I thought.  I still don't think it's appropriate on every page, but, it still allows guest people to edit, so there's not a real problem with it.  My bad. --Nanenj 13:10, 7 October 2006 (PDT)

:::: The only reason I put it there is its "aesthetic values" (as you mentioned). The edit button just looks bad next to the (S)song template window thingie. So I only put because it looks weird. I'm glad it's OK. Well, off to writing more lyrics I go then :) Stelthie 13:28, 7 October 2006 (PDT) (I edited the page while being unlogged)
