Thank you for your recent contributions! I appreciate the effort, and I'll be happy to see more metal stuff getting added. I would like, however, to ask you to be sure that you set the sort information properly at the bottom of each page that you're adding. See the [history] for one of the Fear Factory albums (or the band's page itself) to see what I mean. --Evelyn 14:54, 8 November 2006 (PST)

Howdy! Of course I'll do that! My apologies, didn't realise I needed to alter that part! I'll make sure I do that in future. Thanks for telling me and fixing all the info i've posted up. --Daverosthorn 20:08, 10 November 2006 (GMT)

Me again, just a quick note.. maybe put the word 'lyrics' into the meta tags on the site for easy search engine compatibility???

--Daverosthorn 00:05, 14 November 2006 (GMT)

Most web spiders ignore meta tags, so it's probably not worth the effort. --MindlessXD 18:20, 13 November 2006 (PST)

Interwiki links with Wikevent?

Hi Evelyn! First I'd like to say that I'm really glad that Lyriki exists, and am even more glad that it's growing. I've contributed some stuff in the past and intend to keep going.

I'm leaving this note though, to ask how you would feel about interwiki linking between artists here (living ones of course) and artist pages on Wikevent. Our artists pages all use the microformat hcard, and will soon use RDF too, so it might even be something we could automate.

One added bonus, our Venue listings are all going to be coordinated with Wikitravel, so this could effectively be a link in the wiki chain.

Are you interested? One way or another I'd like to say thanks again for starting this valuable site. -- Mark 06:36, 6 January 2007 (PST)

Easier check of autogenerated page

IMHO lyriki needs an easier way to remove the {autogenerated} template. I think that clicking "edit", remove the line and confirm is just too boring to do. Or at least, it is too boring when I want to check a lot of songs. It would be cool to have a link that "automagically" do it. In this way we could even improve Amarok's plug-in, adding a button that removes the {autogenerated} template for the fetched song. Or maybe i'm just too lazy :D

the wikilyrics.rb script for Amarok now has the option to reedit {autogenerated} pages, if that's any help

Favicon

Hi there, I've made a favicon, in case you'd like to use one. There's a discussion on Lyriki - The Lyrics Wiki:Community Portal. Thanks! -- Mark 02:18, 6 February 2007 (PST)

I like it, so I added it! Thanks for taking the time to create it! --Evelyn 14:52, 8 February 2007 (PST)

MediaWiki version

*poke* we're getting outdated :) --MindlessXD 19:58, 22 February 2007 (PST)

Good point. I'll try to do an update soon! --Evelyn 07:33, 26 February 2007 (PST)

Recording a French Lyriki

Hello, i would like to now if it is possible to create à French lyriki based on the model of the different versions of Wikipedia ? Or why not a category named : "French portal" ? Sorry for this basic English. Girino

I don't think it's really necessary to do anything for this other than just adding French artists/songs, for the most part. Mmm, Emilie Simon. Sorry, I got distracted. Anyway, there's no reason why people can't add French music to lyriki, but I don't think we're likely to spend too much effort on making an actual French version of the site. Sorry! --Evelyn 14:13, 4 December 2007 (PST)

Thoughts on legality?

I've contributed to many lyrics wiki sites before, and I hope this one goes differently, but they have all been shut down by the RIAA or some other such entity because it's apparently copyright infringement to post lyrics. Examples: kiwilyrics, lyricswiki... Do you have a statement on why this cannot happen here, or are we just hoping for the best? Also, on a separate note, what makes lyriki better than the other lyrics wikis out there? - Asobi 10:30, 22 February 2008 (PST)

The answer to both of these questions are intertwined. We don't, and won't, have ads on our site. Ever. There is no profit whatsoever being made in any way from this site, I run it entirely out of my own pocket, because I hate ads with a passion. I take in no money in any form. No donations, no ad revenue, nothing.
Now, this isn't to say that we can't be targeted by the RIAA. I'm sure that if they could figure out even a hazy legal ground they'd start suing everyone who accidentally hear their friend's CD playing without paying for it themselves. But the fact that this is an entirely profit-free archive of content does afford some legal protection as far as we've seen in some totally lawyer-free research. We're not making any money off of the work done by the artists. --Evelyn 09:15, 14 March 2008 (PDT)

Request change and delete

Hello. Im requesting:

1. Delete the album title El Sexto Sentido: Re+Loaded by Thalía because when i click it, the code dont appear (probably because of the + in the name of the album) 2. Then change the title from El Sexto Sentido: Reloaded to El Sexto Sentido: Reloaded (2006) by Thalía.

Thanks!! La Super Thalía Fan 18:46, 20 April 2008 (PDT)

Upload errors

When trying to upload album art, I get this message:

   Internal error
The upload directory (public) is not writable by the webserver.

From the upload log it looks like this has been broken for a couple months. Can you fix it? -Absurdlyobfuscated 04:54, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Spam blacklist broken?

The MediaWiki:Spam blacklist doesn't seem to be functioning. --MindlessXD 12:45, 28 January 2011 (PST)

So it doesn't... I'll see about getting it fixed ASAP, hopefully tonight. --Evelyn 12:50, 28 January 2011 (PST)
I think we may need an additional anti-spam mechanism. Spam is picking up, and a lot of it can't be dealt with easily using the blacklist. --MindlessXD 12:41, 30 January 2011 (PST)
