Guess Case

I love musicbrainz "Guess Case" button, most of the time before I listen to music on my computer I have it tagged and renamed from musicbrainz, but there's times when I don't (like when I just wanna look up and fill in lyrics quick from the radio). Would it be possible to get a guess case button on the site somewhere? hehe. Or...I guess if someone could make a javascript bookmarklet do-hickey, that would work too hehe. Just to make things a little easier when creating and editting pages. --ahoier 11:03, 15 April 2007 (PDT)

To add, I believe the "code" for the guess case buttons buttons/fields is contained in editsuite.js at musicbrainz; if that helps any...hehe. --ahoier 21:04, 18 April 2007 (PDT)

Spam

It's pretty evident by now that fighting spam by blocking IPs isn't helping at all, since spammers seems to be able to change IPs as they please. The folks at the KDE techbase site have a very nice anti-spam measure: when an unregistered user adds a new URL link to a page, an additional step requires him/her to enter the result of a sum before saving the page. This effectively prevents automated spamming since that additional step can't be computed by a program. Is there any chance we could implement something like that? --Attendant 02:27, 16 April 2007 (PDT)

Sounds like a good idea to me, if at all possible :) And well, if it only affects un-registered users, it shouldn't be that big of a burden. --ahoier 21:23, 16 April 2007 (PDT)
It only affects unregistered users when they add new URL links (which rarely happens in this site). BTW, it is clearly possible in the general sense (I've already pointed to one site doing it, which uses the same Wikimedia software as we do). What I would like to know is if any of the server administrators wants to implement something like this (if so, I could just ask the KDE guys how they've done it). --Attendant 01:37, 17 April 2007 (PDT)

I must say I expected a bit more interest on this issue... how about you guys quit sitting in your arses and at least pretend to care? I, for one, won't keep wasting my time chasing spambots for much long (they obviously have the advantage). At the current rate, it wont be long before this site becomes a SpamWiki, which also happens to host some lyrics... --Attendant 12:16, 28 April 2007 (PDT)

You probably have a higher chance of getting something to happen if you pop onto the irc channel. If you don't, I'll poke Evelyn about it for you. --MindlessXD 21:24, 28 April 2007 (PDT)
Then, please, do it. I don't use irc. --Attendant 10:44, 29 April 2007 (PDT)

Vikipeid/Wikipedia

I am new at Lyriki, and is Lyriki affiliated with Wikipedia or Vikipeid???????????? 68.224.239.145 21:26, 4 June 2007 (PDT)

No, it's not. --MindlessXD 17:39, 5 June 2007 (PDT)

Thank you. I was just wondering because it looks similar. -SIXTYeight>@@$>@#(>!$%

The similarity is because both Lyriki and Wikipedia (as well as many other sites) run on MediaWiki -- free, open-source wiki software. --MindlessXD 20:26, 7 June 2007 (PDT)

Comparison

I am new to Lyriki as well and got a question: I'm wondering how lyriki differs from lyricwiki.org or vice versa. Is it reasonable to have two similar projects running, is there a cooperation planned?

for the most part, we are both seperate sites. I dont think there is really any "cooperation" going on. Other than Lyriki has no outside advertising and only relies on donations. --ahoier 11:52, 25 July 2007 (PDT)
