Hello, I'm a new user and I'm wondering about movie soundtracks. I have a few that include songs from other albums, so I'm wondering, can I upload their data to the site? I don't know how to categorize them... do I go by the film/game/series name, or what? Thanks. Kitsune Sniper 12:26, 21 August 2007 (PDT)

:No, for the album name you should use the soundtrack name (whether that's the same as the movie, series or game depends on each specific case). For the artist you should use the artist name or (Various Artists) if there's more than one. Some examples:

:* The Seatbelts:Cowboy Bebop Blue (1999)

:* (Various Artists):The Million Dollar Hotel (2000)

:Typically, I think the order is as follows: native language lyrics, then romanized lyrics in a section, then an English translation in a section.  This isn't really official though, so if you think another organization would be more logical, do that and suggest it for the official method. --MindlessXD 04:14, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

The information in this page about general wikimedia usage is non existant. Page should at least contain a link to wikimedia help.

Also there are various "templates" given in the guides but there's no mention to the fact that real templates (meaning the wikimedia feature) can be used.

BTW, I think real templates usage should be explained and recommended.

Attendant

Personally, I've found that the WikiMedia help is anything but helpful. Wikipedia's help, though slightly irrelevant, is much more helpful to new users. --MindlessXD 17:59, 17 February 2006 (PST)
I've been reading the wikimedia help and I don't think it's useless, though whether it is or not, is beside the point. What I meant is that there should be a link (any link) to a place with information about general wikimedia usage.
On a different subject, I've created 2 templates, Template:SongShort and Template:SongTable, which can be used to produce the song templates recommended in the 'Adding New Songs' guide. The only problem is that I couldn't make default values to work so all parameters have to be specified ATM.
What wikimedia version is running the site?
--Attendant 09:09, 18 February 2006 (PST)
MediaWiki 1.5.4 as of right now. 1.6 has default values, but it hasn't been released yet. --MindlessXD 12:27, 18 February 2006 (PST)

Reformat

Is it OK to just reformat any page that does not adhere to these standards? I've been doing it to any deprecated pages that I see, but what about everything else?

Yup, anything that doesn't fit the standards should be changed. I'm not sure what you mean by "everything else" though. --MindlessXD 16:24, 10 May 2006 (PDT)

As far as I know, auto-generated pages are only created by the Wiki-Lyrics Script for Amarok (or WinAmp if you can get it working). I don't think there are any reasons to disadvise using it. --MindlessXD 10:34, 26 July 2007 (PDT)
Just to clarify things, Wiki-Lyrics doesn't need Amarok (though the Amarok interface is the most featured one) nor other players to run (though you can use the command line interface from other players). You can use the use the command line interface to submit content from the command line (obviously) and most notably to do batch submits (though I don't think it has been used for that -yet).

No, for the album name you should use the soundtrack name (whether that's the same as the movie, series or game depends on each specific case). For the artist you should use the artist name or (Various Artists) if there's more than one. Some examples:
