NOTE TO SELF: Here's an abreviated way of adding category songs at end of song pages - {{C:Song||}}{{C:Song|P|Please Please Me}}
--Nash 12:19, 27 January 2006 (PST)

'Just a start' ;). Any contribution is fine really, you'll actually notice a great number of my own contributions are simply the data and I neglect extra info and special formatting. It's not free-roam to do things incorrectly, but, my basic idea is if someone can fix it simply by adding to it, you're within the realm of doing okay. I know that's not very clear, but basically it means as long as your not doing something that's drastically wrong (IE, has to be entirely deleted and re-written) you're making a positive contribution. --Nanenj 15:33, 21 January 2006 (PST)

Definately not a problem that you're new, we all had to learn :) took a small bit figuring out how we wanted things organized, and sometimes we still screw up, the nice part of a wiki is that someone else can come by and correct it later on ;). I'm sure you'll get the hang of it rather quickly :) --Nanenj 18:27, 15 January 2006 (PST)

Also, you might want to try learning from looking more closely at some of the existing entries. Most existing entries will have the proper basic structure and naming, some will have all the frills (album art and more). Others more plain. But, most should be very good examples. Hope you don't mind me making some of the corrections for you. --Nanenj 18:35, 15 January 2006 (PST)

Thank you for understanding and your help. One thing I'm going to be having a very hard time straightening out, I think, is the "The" issue that I am having with trying to get The Beatles underway. I got one song in, but before I put in more I would like to make sure it is, again, straightened out. Any help and/or instruction concerning the "The" issue would be much appreciated. Thanks. --Nash 18:46, 15 January 2006 (PST)

I think I commented before you signed up, reports that it's 'The Beatles' not just beatles :), so, I'd follow that. :)

Also, the signing can be done quickly by typing --~~~~ I've been moving and correcting the issue with 'The' for you :) But, also there's a 'move' button that's usable up top. You seem to have the page naming scheme down now :) In fact, if you'd like I'll hold off for a little so you can try the move button, move 'Beatles:Come Together' to 'The Beatles:Come Together' :) --Nanenj 18:49, 15 January 2006 (PST)

I think I did that correctly, but I still see another issue. When I view all the artists by clicking on "Artists" on the "Main Page" there are two entries for The Beatles, one for each of the albums, I think, that I created pages for. How can I fix this? Thanks. --Nash 19:11, 15 January 2006 (PST)

I actually missed that, but what that means is that your miscategorizing the albums, there's an 'Albums' category as opposed to Artists for the albums :). I also notice some confusion on where discography (don't feel bad, we actually only recently decided on the short format and haven't gotten it all changed over.) goes. Thrice is a good example of an artist page well done. Thrice:Identity Crisis (2001) is an example of an album page with album art. The Lucksmiths:Warmer Corners (2005) is an example of an album page without album art. All three are properly named, properly categorized, etc. :) --Nanenj 19:29, 15 January 2006 (PST)

when I remove "Lyricist" from the code, it still stays there. How? Why? Is there a way we can set this up so that it doesn't have "Lyricist" field for instrumental songs?

We have to wait until MediaWiki 1.6 is released, I've already set up the template in such a way that when we upgrade it should work right away. --MindlessXD 07:10, 25 January 2006 (PST)

fixing category artist - apparently the category code in the Help Artist page doesn't work correctly and make the artist show up on the Artist TOC page

When you use this template, don't replace "Artists" with the name of the artist, like this:

[[Category:Mr. Lif]]
[[Category:Mr. Lif:M]]

Instead, it should be like this:
