amaroK lyrics plugin
I noticed a comment at the lyriki amaroK plugin page:
Title: "Great Heart" Artist: "Johnny Clegg & Savuka" In this case, a lyrics page for Johnny_Clegg:Great_Heart exists and also an artist page for Johnny_Clegg. But if the artist tag says "Johnny Clegg & Savuka", not the lyrics are returned, but the artist page.
I don't know if you've fixed this or not, but if you haven't, it's probably because you aren't urlencodeing the page name. Since & is a reserved symbol in URLs everything after it will basically be truncated since it expects more parameters. --MindlessXD 14:19, 16 May 2006 (PDT)
- Well, there are a few thing to 'review' in that script. I have already fixed some of them, will check this one for the next release too (which will be soon).
- Changing the subject... do we have a page for scripts and things alike? (if not, maybe we should). I've been working on amaBot for awhile and after fixing some things I'd like to release it to the general public. Is it possible to upload files to the site (other than pictures)? --Attendant 22:19, 17 May 2006 (PDT)
- Lyriki - The Lyrics Wiki:Software (and it's talk page) is where all the scripts are so far. I don't think non-media files can be uploaded, unforunately. --MindlessXD 16:20, 18 May 2006 (PDT)
With the recent site update, the script seems to have stopped submitting properly. It doesn't give any debug output, but it just says in the statusbar that there was a submission error. --Dhraakellian 20:55, 23 March 2007 (PDT)
- Just saw the update on kde-apps. Thanks. --Dhraakellian 11:53, 29 March 2007 (PDT)
- The script is broken again with the latest MediaWiki update, I think. --MindlessXD 20:28, 11 December 2007 (PST)
- Yes, I'm working on a fix. To the one in charge of updating the site's MediaWiki version, please always let me know ASAP of the update (or before, if possible). --Attendant 21:51, 11 December 2007 (PST)
re: capitalization
ooops, looks like they slipped past my editting, sorry about that. --Ahoier 11:45, 24 June 2006 (PDT)
- oh wow, I think I've made this mistake on other lyric pages too; where there are more than 2 albums, that contain the same lyrics. Is there any easy way of going back and figuring out which ones? so only 1 lyric tag per page. I'll keep that in mind. I think we just need another/new/modified template for lyrics/tracks that appear on multiple albums, to make this all easier.--ahoier 07:24, 25 June 2006 (PDT)
- i figured what i meant. before when i was using the 2 lyric tags, I was using br tags to line break between the different versions of the song. But now using just one lyric tag that shouldn't be a problem anyhow, since the breaks are preserved within those lyric tags anyhow. I guess I was just making more work for myself :P--ahoier 18:01, 25 June 2006 (PDT)
Feature Suggestions for Lyriki.rb
- Have Lyriki.rb open up the submit dialog if no lyrics are found whatsoever.
- Have a command-line switch to force GTK, Tcl/TK, or QT bindings.
- Maybe pop up the dialog first thing and report as it scans. 'Searching Lyriki ... Not Found'. This is actually a half-request, cause there's no real intent to support Lyriki on windows, but the methods for calling Lyriki on windows generate no feedback as to whether it's working and just not finding anything, or failing outright.
- If the song is found on lyriki, and marked as AutoGenerated, pop up the edit dialog instead of just scraping the lyrics, perhaps an option for this on the command line, maybe even just make it toggle so that it always opens the editable dialog instead of ever showing the lyric plain window.
- An option not to show the plain lyric window after submitting lyrics.
Any/All the above would be greatly appreciated if you get the time :)

- Can be done
- Trivial to implement (though I don't see why it's necessary)
- Don't expect this for now...
- Almost done
- Known bug I haven't fix yet (will do someday)
- --Attendant 11:13, 8 October 2006 (PDT)
- Good deal, 2 is mainly a debugging thing. When I installed GTK, at first the script was entirely broken. It took me a bit of testing to get it working again, but, without removing GTK, I couldn't test if the Tcl bindings still worked ^^; Also, I'm not sure how fussy other people are, but, some may like one interface better than another, or such silliness :P (I know the GTK UI looks a billion times better than the Tcl/Tk UI :P). Thanks for all the work you've put into it :) --Nanenj 12:15, 8 October 2006 (PDT)
Bjork
Hey, I noticed Bjork in your talk page ;) But it should probably be Björk? :) --ahoier 05:59, 25 October 2006 (PDT)
reverting articles?
Linkin_Park:1Stp_Klosr got vandalized/spammed by User:66.112.48.17 (CenturyTel Internet Holdings, Inc), is there a built-in "Revert" feature to revert to my previous edit? Or is the fix just to copy/paste and repost the lyrics in place of the spam. Sorry about the SOAD stuff. --ahoier 09:13, 4 November 2006 (PST)
- alright, that answered my question. sounds simple enough. The rollback feature doesn't seem to be their for non-Admins, but the editting the previous post, and then re-posting it would work fine. --ahoier 11:27, 5 November 2006 (PST)
Templates
Just out of curiosity, why use HTML tables instead of wiki-tables? --MindlessXD 21:42, 28 January 2007 (PST)
- So that we don't use work around templates that impose an additional unnecessary burden on the server. --Attendant 09:08, 29 January 2007 (PST)

Problems ?
Dear Admin, I had some problems with creation of some cross-links, because it seems Lyriki cannot create links to words which differ only by capitalization of letters. I think this is big trouble, so it will be better if the names of the songs and albums are not case sensitive. So that it seems I have created doubled entry on Tatu album "Dangerous and Moving" that is different from "Dangerous And Moving", and after some confusion I have realized that what matters is the capitalization of "and", this is bizzare, and I think it is better if something can be done to resolve this problem. strange occurance with lyriki script
I just stumbled upon Atreyu:An Interlude - which was auto-genetated by User:Eatpie75 using (autogen. song page (LLv0.8)). It didn't format the page according to the Lyriki Standards for Instrumental page formatting. Has there been an update since 0.8 that fixes that occurance? --ahoier 19:34, 14 July 2007 (PDT)
- Yes. --Attendant 10:18, 15 July 2007 (PDT)
ssong
Just so you know, Song has replaced both the old song template and SSong. Also the new song template currently cannot handle multiple artists. Do you think multiple-artist support should be implemented in the same template or should there be a separate multi-artist template? --MindlessXD 01:00, 24 December 2007 (PST)
- Good, it always bothered me that they were separate templates. I think multiple artist should be also handled by the same template similarly to how album/albums parameters are handled now: use an artist parameter for single artists (where the braces to form the link are added by the template -that is, just as it is now) and a loose artists parameter for more complex cases such as multiple artists (where all the links information has to be added manually). BTW, the album template could benefit from something like this too (as it also doesn't support multiple artists). --Attendant 01:15, 25 December 2007 (PST)
- Should that be in addition to the multiple artist function added yesterday? I think an artists parameter could be the displayed information while the artist - artist5 parameters would still be used to create the categorization. In that case, it would be possible to do everything through the artists parameter if one wanted to (or if there were more than 5 artists). --MindlessXD 07:22, 25 December 2007 (PST)
- I've gone ahead and implemented this so you can see what I mean. --MindlessXD 08:19, 25 December 2007 (PST)
- Also, I agree that this format would work well for the album template. --MindlessXD 07:24, 25 December 2007 (PST)

- Sorry, I hadn't actually looked at the template when I replied. Seems perfectly good to me as it is now. --Attendant 12:14, 25 December 2007 (PST)
- On a second look however....
- Sorry again. I've been updating the help on adding songs to the site and I think it will all be more consistent with the following changes:
- * drop the artist1 to artist5 parameters
- * leave the artists parameter as the option for "complicated cases" but with a new template, {{song artist}}, that will take care of adding the braces to form the link and adding the page to the artist category (and in the future anything else we might add).
- * rename the template {{album link inline}} to {{song album}}
- An example of what I would like to see:
- Sorry, I hadn't actually looked at the template when I replied. Seems perfectly good to me as it is now. --Attendant 12:14, 25 December 2007 (PST)
{{song| | song = Song Title | artists = {{song artist|Artist1}} feat. {{song artist|Artist2}} | albums = {{song album|Album1Year|Album1|Artist1}}<br />{{song album|Album2Year2|Album2|Artist1}} | credits = Composers | lyricist = Lyricist }}
- What do you think? (BTW, I realize you have already put some work into these, so count with my help).
--Attendant 13:13, 25 December 2007 (PST)
- That'd be fine with me, I'd rearrange the order of the parameters of song album though. My only possible concern would be the complexity to the normal user of using so many templates... not that we aren't abusing them already. ;) --MindlessXD 13:22, 25 December 2007 (PST)
- Hopefully, the normal user will only have to deal with the simpler scenario (and only the song template). However, I think this way should make more sense to anyone needing the "complex" cases.
- I have no problem with rearranging the parameters, the order should be whatever makes more sense (i just copy pasted the one from {{album link inline}} in the example). Just keep in mind that both {{song artist}} and {{song album}} templates need another (optional and hardly ever used) parameter for the displayed name (to cover up for technical limitation issues). --Attendant 13:46, 25 December 2007 (PST)

- I hope you aren't doing those ssong replacements by hand. That's what bots are for. ;) --MindlessXD 11:12, 30 December 2007 (PST)
- I was, actually... I kind of felt guilty for it being somehow my fault (I'll release a new version of the script to deal with this ASAP). I just never understood how easy or difficult is to set up and run the bot. If it's not a big problem, then I'll leave it up to you. --Attendant 12:00, 30 December 2007 (PST)
- The only problem is "getting around to it" (i.e. laziness) as I've already got the script written. :D --MindlessXD 17:41, 30 December 2007 (PST)

Taint
Hi. I'm new to lyriki as you may have seen.
I created the Taint page and its both album pages too. I used this page to correctly build the Taint page : http://www.lyriki.com/Three_Days_Grace I've just noticed that you have undone a lot of my work. Can you please explain why this page (http://www.lyriki.com/Three_Days_Grace) is good? And why the Taint page wasn't?
I ask this in order not to loose so much time for the next artists I'll add. Thanks in advance. Regards. ThArGos 01:00, 14 April 2008 (PDT)
- Thanks for your explanations on my talk page, I'll have a look at our guides and try to correctly add content in the future. ThArGos 06:50, 20 April 2008 (PDT)
Thanks BUT
Thank you for creating pages for Thalía BUT I hate the way you spelled her albums and songs specifically the capitalization. You don't know how much you disappoint me. What you've done is truly wrong for me because you change all the capitalization in wrong... For example... Mundo de cristal should be Mundo de Cristal.. also Cantando por un sueño should be Cantando Por Un Sueño. Could you please change the capitalization you've made?
Thanks.. La Super Thalía Fan 17:13, 21 April 2008 (PDT)
Adding Support
Hi, I wanted to code support for the site paroles.net which pretty much covers all french songs for the amarok scrupt. How do I go about doing this? Have you written instructions on how to do this anywhere? You can reach me at cheerfulguy AT gmail.
autogen overwriting pages?
Seether:Because of Me -- I've reverted it, but it appears that an autogenerated page overwrote a page that already existed. --MindlessXD 18:04, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi Attendant,
Thanks for structuring L.C.'s pages. However all his texts by copyright include no cap's!!! So I'm afraid that'll have to be changed back to all small letters both in the song titles as well as in the song texts. There is a better JPEG of the album cover in the images pages of Wiki. I just don't know how to import it to this page.
Best, Jaimie

extended features of albumlink and album template
Hi,
i just viewed your changes on "Aimee Mann" and you did just the things i didn't know how to tackle. I ever since wondered how i could correct the name that would be looked for in wikipedia and the other auto generated links, when the name of the album page was not the same name in these other sites. Second also the "artis" information field in the album link template was a suprise to me. At least links to the templates should be added in the help menu under "adding new album" and "adding new artist", because i always take these pages as reference and never found the answers to the questions i was looking for. Okay, i simply could have asked them, but i think it would be a nice thing to have these extendes features listed on that pages.
Whats you opinion?
Kind regards --Knufaz 13:29, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
capitalization
Hey.. I was going to move Barão Vermelho:O tempo não pára to "Barão Vermelho:O Tempo Não Pára". Then I thought "it's so strange that there must must be a reason for this", and when I looked in the history, I saw you moved it to the uncapitalized title. I am brazilian, and I know that the original title of the song is "O Tempo Não Pára". "Tempo" is a noun, "não" is an adverb, and "pára" is a verb, all of which must be capitalized. Then I would just like to know why you uncapitalized it..
Oh, I would have asked in the talk page of the song, but I don't think anyone would hear... Pedro Fonini 04:51, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, Pedro. The reason that song was moved was because we strive to follow the correct capitalization rules for each language (and use MusicBrains as a reference for that). Truth be told though, I'm non been an active member on this site for a long time, so things may have changed (even though I have no reason to believe they have). In this case, I was enforcing the rules stated at CapitalizationStandardPortuguese. --Attendant 20:14, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I wasn't aware of that. I think I'm going search the musicbrainz wiki for why they have such strange capitalization rules. Thanks for the explanation anyway --Pedro Fonini 22:54, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
