I'm thinking that songs (and others) should be categorized with all non-alphanumeric characters stripped (except spaces, of course)? (or at least when it's done automatically, eg. LyrikiBot) Are there any titles that need non-alphanumeric characters that this would break? Thoughts or objections? --MindlessXD 12:58, 28 January 2006 (PST)
Yes, there was one I saw a couple days ago called "! (_____)". I forget what was in the parenthesis. --Nash 13:14, 28 January 2006 (PST)
- Pain of Salvation:! (Foreward) -- I ended up categorizing it under F anyway. --MindlessXD 15:12, 28 January 2006 (PST)
There's a band called !!!. People tend to pronounce it "Chk chk chk", but that's not how it's spelled. I have no idea where I'd file it. At home, it's filed under ! at the beginning of my collection. Here, I suppose I'd put them into the 0-9 section.
- When I put together the !!! page, I listed them for the artist list under Chk Chk Chk (that's also a redirect to !!!) So it's on the C Artists page. A number of places refer to the band as both interchangeably, or both at once as !!! (Chk Chk Chk) to avoid confusion and make the band findable on Google and the like. I hadn't seen any precedent on what to do otherwise, and I figured this method would work just fine. But hey, 'tis a wiki, if it should go in the 0-9 list instead feel free to toss it there. --Charron 10:59, 14 May 2007 (PDT)
"A", "A" & "The"
Just a note -- I've realized that, when categorizing, simply omitting these words from the beginning of the title is just as good as moving them to the end of the title, since the appended information rarely affects the sorted lists. So, basically, append it if you want, but it's mainly a waste of time. --MindlessXD 07:41, 30 January 2006 (PST)
Categorizing by genre
Is there a way to categorize by genre? I think it would be really useful to browse by genre. --Chrisofspades 15:55, 22 February 2007 (PST)
